The platform is a collaborative effort between the University of Washington Health Sciences Library and the Washington State Department of Health, funded by a contract from the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Our mission is to design an engaging, interactive, and visually appealing disaster resource platform that serves a diverse audience, including first responders, firefighters, medical practitioners, and consumers. We are currently redesigning the old website to create a mobile-friendly experience, available on both iOS and Android, ensuring accessibility and usability for all users. Our project aims to provide emergency preparedness and disaster resources that empower and support our communities.
RRAIN Project Brief Background
The University of Washington Health Sciences Library and WA Department of Health received a National Library of Medicine grant to create RRAIN Washington, a mobile app and website for Washington State emergency responders.
- The goal of this project was to help first responders access disaster information resources from the NLM and situational information on a mobile device – ready to go when they are.
- The spectrum of resources is inclusive enough to support responders at all levels, from citizen to practitioner, but is aimed at ERAS first responders in Washington.
